Mill Pool House
On site 2027
Design Approach:
Tucked within the mature gardens of a historic mill house, this new pool house is being designed as a place for family life to unfold. Set on a unique island between two branches of the river, it will provide a space for everyday swimming, relaxing and spending time together, as well as hosting friends and extended family throughout the year.
Our design takes a light-touch approach, creating a building that feels at home within its woodland setting and sits gently amongst the trees and waterways. We are reading lots about the simplicity of Japanese architecture and the honesty of woodland structures.
Designing for such a special site also brings unique challenges. With access only via a small bridge, every element of the building is being carefully considered to make construction as lightweight and efficient as possible, helping to protect the landscape that makes this place so special.
