Situated in a double ground-floor unit within the listed Granary Building in Kings Cross, we completed this project in collaboration with Spiritland.
Spiritland is a music brand founded in London, built around excellence in culture, curation and listening. A unique hi-fidelity, hand-built sound system delivers an unparalleled audio experience with a cultural and musical programme to match. Spiritland re-frames the bar and listening experience, delivering drinking, dining, socialising and musical enjoyment in a relaxed setting.
Design Idea
Working with Spiritland, we developed a scheme that took inspiration from the warm and atmospheric listening environments of Japanese vinyl music rooms. Imposing floor standing speakers that resemble sculptures and an informal environment that encourages music lovers to explore records and new music was the design ethos for the spaces.
Every piece of joinery was designed with Spiritland and made by Shape London, providing bespoke joinery that celebrates and presents rare collector’s items as well as accessible technology to the avid listener. Comfort, precision and integrity are reflected in the use of Ash mocca, brass, concrete, red marble, linoleum and sapele-faced birch plywood, to create sound studios, collectors’ cabinets, a chef’s table, retail space and bar frontage.
